is a partnership of educators from North America and Belize who volunteer their time to improve the training of teachers and the education of children in the rural Toledo district of Belize. TFABB aids Toledo’s preschool and primary-school teachers and principals with the training, supplies, and facilities required to help their students achieve academic success and thereby escape poverty. FPL has been inspired by their entrepreneurship, years of dedication, inter-country partnership and a well-structured model of operating a volunteer-based organization.
Envisions their Virginia county as a place where people live in balance with wildlife and act with an understanding of the value and importance of nature. They see themselves as the stewards of this land and are promoting a sense of responsibility towards future generations. Being an all-volunteer organization, LWC offers a variety of hands-on and educational programs, providing opportunities for applying that knowledge to the betterment of the natural environment.
This was a one-day event that brought together multiple organizations within the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County, NC, area to provide a wide variety of health and social services for the homeless. It mobilized a broad range of volunteers, and all services for the day were provided by volunteers and were free of charge.
A project centered around making a documentary in which contemporary philosophers share their common vision of the essence we all share, and invite us to see beyond our separateness. If we do, they say, there is no problem we cannot resolve. The interviews weave masterfully through subjects that range from the causes of war to the ultimate purpose of life. A goal is to offer the audience a remarkably thorough and inspiring glimpse into social evolution and the unique potential of the twenty-first century.
is a humanitarian organization dedicated to improving childbirth conditions worldwide through medical education partnerships. It brings US, Canadian, Australian and European healthcare professionals into host countries to work alongside doctors and nurses in their home environments. Kybele teams provide hands-on training in techniques that improve healthcare safety. Their goal is to prevent childbirth-related injuries and deaths, which affect millions of women and newborns each year.
demonstrates longevity and consistent effort in giving back to the community, providing a variety of services that include: Bakery Café, which prepares and trains people for transition into a more sustainable economic work environment; a housing program for low income families; a soup kitchen for homeless people; a food pantry; a residential intentional community; What’s-Up magazine; and Noonday Farms, where food is grown and distributed to the needy.
Since 1992 Kitezh, a non-government, non-profit Partnership of Foster Families, has offered homes and education for orphaned Russian children in a rural area 300 km south of Moscow in the Kaluga region. Despite harsh economic conditions, this dedicated group has built a thriving rural working community that provides an education and a home with foster families for orphaned Russian children who come from extreme social situations. Kitezh is already a viable alternative to the institutionalized care provided by the state.
The Shepherd's Center of Greater Winston-Salem is an interfaith ministry that supports and promotes successful aging through educational, service, support, and volunteer opportunities for older adults.
